Adaptive histogram equalization (AHE) and intensity windowing have been compared using psychophysical observer studies. Experienced radiologists were shown clinical CT (computerized tomographic) images of the chest. Into some of the images, appropriate artificial lesions were introduced; the physicians were then shown the images processed with both AHE and intensity windowing. They were asked to assess the probability that a given image contained the artificial lesion, and their accuracy was measured. The results of these experiments show that for this particular diagnostic task, there was no significant difference in the ability of the two methods to depict luminance contrast; thus, further evaluation of AHE using controlled clinical trials is indicated.  相似文献

The single-event-upset rates due to neutron-induced nuclear recoils have been calculated for Si and GaAs components using the HETC and MCNP codes and the ENDF data base for (n, p) and (n, alpha) reactions. For the same critical charge and sensitive volume, the upset rate in Si exceeds that of GaAs by a factor of about 1.7, mainly because more energy is transferred in neutron interactions with lighter Si nuclei. The upset rates due to neutrons are presented as functions of critical charge and atmospheric altitude. Upsets induced by cosmic-ray nuclei, secondary protons and neutrons are compared.  相似文献

In recent years, great progress has been made in the development of computer-based technologies that support the manufacturing industries. Those concerned with advanced manufacturing technology (AMT) are becoming increasingly aware of the fundamental importance of human organisational issues for the successful development, implementation, operation and maintenance of AMT. The discipline of industrial ergonomics and occupational occupational psychology, therefore, have a significant contribution to make in this field. Ultra-high Q, X-band resonators, used in a frequency discriminator for stabilization of a low-noise signal generator, can provide a means of obtaining significant reduction in phase noise levels. Resonator unloaded Qs on the order of 500 K can be obtained in sapphire dielectric resonator (DR) operating on a low-order (i.e. TE(01)) mode at 77 K and employing high-temperature superconducting (HTS) films installed in the DR enclosure covers. Rigorous analysis for the determination of resonator frequency, modes, and unloaded Q have been carried out using mode matching techniques. Trade-off studies have been performed to select resonator dimensions for the optimum mode yielding highest unloaded Q and widest spurious mode separation. Field distributions within the resonator have been computed to enable practical excitation of the required mode. The results of both analysis and prototype device evaluation experiments are compared for resonators fabricated using enclosures consisting of conventional, metal sidewalls and covers employing HTS films as a function of cover conductivity.  相似文献

In this experiment a non-hazardous industrial machine simulator was used to evaluate errors made when using a foot switch to initiate dangerous, repetitive machine motions. Subjects were experienced employees who normally operated metalworking presses and similar hazardous machines on jobs matching the simulation. Four variables (force needed to push switch to closure, the switch's force feedback felt by the subject, subject working posture, and hand task involved in stamping a simulated workpiece) were evaluated for their main and interactive effects upon frequency of machine-cycling errors in a repetitive task. Equipment problems which required immediate correction were introduced at a rate of 4.9 events/h. Also, three covariables (the rate of repetitive use of the switch to make hits on simulated workpieces, subject age and subject experience at foot switch-controlled workstations) were examined for their contribution to cycling errors. Although hand task was a significant effect in error prediction models containing the four primary variables, it was found that a model containing the hit rate covariate (rate of repeated use of the foot switch) provided the best predictor of the frequency of inadvertent actuation errors. An error threshold was observed at about 17.5 hits/min with a high linear correlation between hit rate and machine-cycling errors at higher hit rates. Based on results of the experiment, this report presents design considerations for workstations which use foot controls to help minimise the chance of machine-cycling errors and injury.  相似文献

When Streptococcus bovis was grown in batch culture with 6 g/L glucose at pH 6.7, maximum specific growth rate was 1.47 h(-1), and lactate was the primary fermentation product. In continuous culture at pH 6.7 and growth rate equal to .10 h(-1), little lactate was formed, and formate, acetate, and ethanol accounted for most of the product. When extra-cellular pH decreased to 4.7, intra-cellular pH declined to 5.4, and organisms switched back to lactate production. Intracellular concentration of fructose 1,6-diphosphate of batch culture cells was greater than 12 mM, a concentration that allowed maximal lactate dehydrogenase activity. When Streptococcus bovis was grown in continuous culture at pH 6.7, intracellular fructose-l,6-diphosphate declined to .4 mM, a concentration which gave little lactate dehydrogenase activity at pH 6.5 or greater. Decreasing pH of continuous culture to 4.7 increased intracellular fructose-1,6-diphosphate concentration to .8 mM. This concentration was still limiting if lactate dehydrogenase was assayed at pH 6.5, but nearly maximal activity was obtained when enzyme was assayed at pH 5.5. The small increase in fructose-l,6-diphosphate and decreased requirement of lactate dehydrogenase for fructose-l,6-diphosphate under acidic assay conditions, accounted for increased lactate production during low pH (4.7) continuous culture. These and other aspects of lactate regulation by Streptococcus bovis are discussed as factors leading to rumen acidosis. This pattern of regulation also helps to explain why rumen acidosis is difficult to reverse.  相似文献

Determinants of off-road vehicle transmission 'shift quality'   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
This study was conducted to determine the relationship between factors associated with a tractor transmission shift and the tractor operator's judgement of the quality of the shift. The specific objective was to measure experienced tractor operators' ratings of shift 'acceptability' as peak acceleration, peak jerk and direction of initial acceleration were varied at two levels of background vibration. A six-degree-of-freedom vehicle motion simulator in the Deere & Company Technical Center's human factors laboratory was used to simulate the background vibration and to control the experimental variables. The key results are: (1) The most important factor influencing 'shift quality' is the peak acceleration experienced during the shift. (2) Background vehicle vibration experienced by the tractor operator affects his perception of 'shift quality'. Higher background vibration masks the acceleration experienced during a shift and makes the shift more acceptable than when experienced at a low level of background vibration. (3) Peak jerk experienced during a shift has a negligible effect on 'shift quality'. (4) Upshifts and downshifts of the same peak acceleration, peak jerk, and background vibration receive the same general rating of 'shift quality'.  相似文献
